+ Is CritterKleen® really affecting parasites?

With the help of our laboratory partners, we are testing the impact of CritterKleen on bacteria, on viruses, on skin cells themselves and on insects and parasites. That’s a lot of testing. We would love to be shouting the answers from the rooftops already but patience, good experimental design and of course money are all required. You can help us. Whilst using CritterKleen as a skin conditioner if you noticed an impact or result - be it good or not - we would love to hear from you. If you join our research team, sharing that information with all is going to be a great help.

+ How do you apply CritterKleen® 'Natural Skin Repair' to your pet?

Shake bottle vigorously before use. CritterKleen is used as a soothing skin liquid and should be applied to unbroken skin. Once the skin is moistened, CritterKleen readily soaks and adheres, and should be thoroughly sponged into the skin surface and around hair or feather follicles. Once dry a thin moisture repellent film remains. The aroma acts as a very effective deodorant, and the soluble low volatility organic compounds are skin emollients. Regular application may improve hair and feather regrowth. Skin should be perfectly dry before use of CritterKream, but the two support each other.

As the CritterKleen dries, animals find skin application soothing. Use a sponge to apply the product with the flow of the hairline. On hot days, to improve the effect, CritterKleen can be chilled in the refrigerator. Be sure the animals do not catch a chill. All skin areas can be bathed. The product can be applied around the perineum, genitals, under the front legs, around the collar line, down the backline and up onto the tail. In chickens this also means leg scales, wattles and under the vent. In horses CritterKleen can be used anywhere required but use sparingly on delicate skin in the rectum and perineum.

Best application is performed by moistening an absorbent sponge and wiping over the skin. Be sure to reach skin level – which can be difficult in some dogs. The liquid will want to bead immediately and run off the animal, but then absorbs. Animals are comfortable with the distinctly sweet aroma.

  • Itchy red unbroken skin
  • Scaly dehydrated flaky skin
  • Contact allergy skin
  • Hair – brush it in – this spreads the aromatics up the hair shafts acting as a conditioner
  • Using the properties of the natural surfactants in the CritterKleen, the mixture can act as a skin cleaner or on any skin where soils need to be removed
  • When using as a show conditioner, CritterKleen can be applied to the entire bird.

+ How do you apply CritterKleen® to a wild animal?

What a challenge. In the video is a clip of Addy's homemade solution. He has dyed the CritterKleen blue so you can see it and created the swing door and the rope applicator all from salvaged materials at the island tip. You can see the moist skin on Wonny after going through the trap. Wonny had no trouble adjusting to this obstacle on her burrow. If you have any applicator ideas or variations, please share them with us.

+ How to use CritterKleen® Bedding Powder?

Here is a short video to show you how to apply our Bedding Bowder to your nesting boxes.

+ Is CritterKleen® really repelling insects?

Our own observations indicate it is effective at repelling flies, marchflies, even european wasps and we are confident it affects fleas, mites and lice. How it works - is it repelling or killing? - is being researched over the next few months by our university colleagues in controlled laboratory conditions.

+ How often should CritterKleen® be used?

Reapply CritterKleen as required. A useful rule of thumb can be twice daily for the first day and thereafter daily for 4 days. After every application keep the animals occupied until the CritterKleen dries. Some animals like the taste and lick off the CritterKleen. With chickens keep the birds in a draft free area to avoid chilling them while the product evaporates.

+ Is CritterKleen® safe for my skin?

CritterKleen is 100% made of natural ingredients and is completely safe for you and your skin. CritterKleen 'Natural Skin Repair' should not be applied to eyes, and care should be taken if using aerosol spray application. Wearing of glasses is recommended. Some people find the residual aromatic smell quite strong, and so the product should be applied to skin in a well ventilated area. CritterKleen 'Natural Skin Repair' can also be poured into a bottle dispenser with a nozzle to aid placing the product at skin level.

CritterKleen should not be used:

  • Where there is broken skin
  • On open wounds
  • As a disinfectant
  • In eyes
